My life has been filled with many thrills – graduating magnum cum laude from college, meeting my wife, the birth of my children, the joy of seeing someone’s dream come true. After working for the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston for 36 years designing and testing some of the most innovative accounting systems, I retired in 2004. I thought my life would now be sedated and it was. That was until a friend invited me to come to the Crescent City Kilo Race in April of 2005. All that I knew was this weekend was going to have boats racing. To my surprise these boats weren’t racing each other; rather they raced against time and set world records. I got to meet uncommon people achieving their dreams. I also got to meet a man who achieved his dream… to be the world’s fastest man on water. This weekend changed my life. I no longer wanted to have a sedate retired life. I wanted to be part of a new dream; a dream held by a man with an unending smile and love of people. I got that chance in 2007 when I came to work for AMF Offshore Racing. |
