Growing up in the small mountain resort of Wrightwood California, Brian Devlin, owner and throttle man of Team LaveyCraft didn’t have much exposure to boating. Wrightwood is a Ski resort town, population 3,500 located one and a half hours east of Los Angles at an elevation of 6,000 feet. That fact didn’t diminish Brian’s love of the water or desire to go boating. Richard Devlin, “Dad” as he is affectionately known around the pits, bought a small flat bottom ski boat in the early seventies. Brian, to the shock/horror of his mother was seen driving the boat solo at the age of seven and developed a real passion for the sport. Brian, wife Erica and two daughters Jessica 14, and Cara 11, now live in Fallbrook, California and all enjoy boating. Brian owned several sport boats prior to visiting the LaveyCraft showroom in 2003 when he bought his first serious performance boat. It was only months later that he inked a deal to purchase LaveyCraft’s World Champion Factory 1 boat. During the 2004 race season Brian crewed for the Factory 1 boat and also raced his own pleasure boat to a Pacific Offshore Championship. Chance Silva joins Brian in the cockpit handling the driving duties. Chance is related to Brian, his wife Christine and Erica are cousins. Chance and Christine have a two year old daughter Jordan and live in Temecula, California. Chance joined Brian handling navigator duties for the 2004 Pacific Offshore season and has made a seamless transition to the driver position for 2005. Chance never spent much time on the water prior to racing, but has quickly grown to love the sport. Chance is a serious and competitive individual whose quiet demeanor compliments Brian’s aggressive attitude on the race course. Competing almost exclusively out of state demands a lot of time and effort; Team LaveyCraft would not have the success on the road it has without the help of “Dad." Richard Devlin is a retired Los Angeles police Captain who has taken the position of Crew Chief. Dad is the first person to offer help and the last person to go home, always showing up the younger guys. Brian considers himself lucky to share with his father a sport which they both enjoy so much.
