I first started my racing career in 2002 with my best friend Ernie Tretola Jr. and his father Ernie Tretola. They raced a 32 skater by the name Relentless; I started as a crew member. I used to wash, wax, and on race days make sure the boat was ready to win another race.
In the winter of 2002, I was asked to be a navigator for Augie Pensa, in his 38' scarab at the time the boat was named A.Pensa Modern Movers. It was an honor and new beginning of my power boating career. The summer of 2003 was the first race I ever won with Augie; he had every racer in the race, sign the checkered flag. The signing of the flag was just a little token of what was going to come in the future. The year 2003 our team was named OPA Manufacturer Production class P4 High points champion and P4 SBI Northeast Divisional Champs. During the 2003 winter, our team switched engine builders to Wazzup Racing engines Anthony Smith, Ed Smith, and "Focker." The 2004 season was just as good as 2003, our team won P4 OPA High Points, and SBI Northeast Divisional Champs. The year 2005 was a dream year. In 2005 Val Fiorillo joined our team as the Driver, Augie throttled, and I remained Navigator. AMF became our sponsor along with Nesquik. Our team became the OPA P4 High point champions along with being the National champion in P4 for OPA. For SBI/APBA/UIM our team won the honors of being Manufacturer Production class P4 Champions, National champions and WORLD CHAMPIONS. Along with winning the titles our team was also inductee's into the SBI/APBA/UIM Hall OF Champions.
I have had an amazing race career for only being 23 years old and racing for so little years. I have the race family to thank for all the success I have had during my powerboat career. I would like to personally thank all of the Jersey Boyz, Wazzup Racing Engines, AMF Offshore Racing, and ADE Inc. |
