John Begovich was born and raised in Weehawken , New Jersey . He has always had a love of boating. While working as the head Dock-master at The Kings Grant inn Marina, John was instrumental in bringing the Hennessy Grand Prix to Point Pleasant . It was at this time that he, along with brother Peter, began his offshore racing career racing the Sneaky Pete. In addition to racing in The Hennessy Grand Prix, John and his brother also competed in The Brass Monkey Races in the 70's. John has enjoyed offshore racing as not only a participant but as a fan. He has followed the career of his son Scott for the past ten years.

Last year, while enjoying like as a general contractor in Jupiter, Florida with his lovely wife Patricia, John was pulled out of boating retirement by his son Scott and friend John Haggin. Today John races the Still Got It boat as both its Driver and Throttleman. After nearly forty years of offshore racing, one thing is for sure; John Begovich still has it!
